JLD Therapy Success Stories
Occupational Therapy
I love her gentle approach with my son
“My son has been receiving both speech and occupational therapy since he turned 2 years old, he is now 5 years old. We absolutely LOVE Ms. Elise, who provides OT for my son. I love her gentle approach with my son. She is very knowledgeable and shares feedback after every session. I appreciate her recommendations of how we can help my son both at school and at home. Since starting therapy with her a few months back with Ms. Elise I have witnessed how much my son has improved his skills.”

She goes above and beyond for my son
“I have been coming to Joy and Laughter Development Therapy with my son (7) for about 6 months now for Occupational Therapy. We have seen tremendous growth and improvement in him while our time here. Kavita is a wonderful therapist and goes above and beyond for my son. The entire staff is welcoming, friendly, and kind. You can tell all of the therapist are passionate about the kids and enjoy what they do. I highly recommend this place! Its been an overall amazing experience.”

We couldn’t be happier
“We have been with JLD for a year now and couldn’t be happier. The experience has been phenomenal. My kid receives Speech therapy and Occupational therapy here. He went from speaking a few words to being able to have short conversations and ask questions. He also learned about the zones of regulation and that has helped him dramatically improve his ability to cope with transitions in the past year. We have seen improvements in handwriting, scissor skills and being able to self-regulate. We have Anne (Speech therapist) and Jennifer (Occupational therapist) to thank for his success – they’re both amazing! Along with an incredibly supportive staff.

Speech Therapy
She makes my daughter feel comfortable and safe
“My daughter has been going to JLD for 3 years now for speech therapy. We have seen multiple different therapist during our time here. We have had nothing but a pleasant experience. Ms. Ping is my daughter’s therapist and I am so impressed with her. She makes my daughter feel comfortable and safe. She is thorough with her treatment and you can tell her truly cares about her patients. I would highly recommend JLD to anyone!”

Our daughter’s expressive speech is improving more than ever
“Our daughter started seeing Ms. Shreya in late November 2021. They immediately clicked on a Zoom session, and the relationship was even better when they met in person. Ms. Shreya is great, she is always prepared and on time for their sessions. She is also very aware of how to work with our special 4 year old.
She makes their sessions fun, entertaining, and most of all our daughter’s expressive speech is improving better than with most speech therapists we’ve had in the past from other places. Everyone that we have encountered at JLD has been so easy to work with so far and they made enrollment so easy compared to other places we have worked with in the past! Highly recommend!!!”

It’s so wonderful to see my son blossom like this
“I love this place! My 2 yo son, Leo, has made some amazing progress in the few months we started going 4 months ago. Leo especially loves OT with Miss Nina. He asks to go play with Miss Nina everyday. He’s gained so much more confidence and has started to become more social and brave at the park. We used to stick to the swings, but now he’s running around, going down the slide, climbing, jumping and he tries to make friends. It’s so wonderful to see him blossom like this.
We also do speech with Miss Carolina and Miss Shreya. My son’s speech has come along in leaps and bounds. He used to be so quiet and now he won’t stop talking. He says 6 word sentences now! He’s starting to tell us about his day and ask questions. It’s amazing how far he’s come in a short amount of time.”

Physical Therapy
The first day, my daughter started crawling
“We have been going to Joy & Laughter for 4 months taking our 1 year old daughter. Our daughter wasn’t crawling/ walking or standing. We meet with Ms Stacy and right away we can tell she was going to be awesome with our daughter. The first day she showed my daughter how to crawl. And myself how to assist her in the crawling.
That same day my daughter started crawling. Then we worked on walking it took my daughter awhile to walk. But she is now walking and speed walking. We go every Tuesday and she’s so excited to see Ms. Stacy and to show her what she has been learning. Ms Stacy is patient caring and the best therapist. We are grateful for Ms. Stacy!”

It really makes a difference, thanks JLD!
“My son has been coming a little over a year now and it’s helped SO much. All the therapists are great, even the ones he’s had as a sub for the day. They communicate with one another when the kids go to back to back therapies, on how to integrate and combine the activities to be effective for the kids. I’m also happy to say that one of my other sons will be starting here soon as well!
Special Thanks to Kavita, Kelly, Alejandra, Celeste, Marcos, Stacey, EScarlet, Zita, Marcos, and to the rest of the team for what you do for our kids, it really makes a difference. Thanks JLD!”

Feeding Therapy
We are forever grateful for the care she has shown our family
“…I can say now, after 4 months of taking my 18 month old to Jennifer, I would pay out of pocket all over again to have him receive the care and expertise we have from her. We came here at a time when my son refused to eat any solids at 14 months old. Every attempt to feed him was extremely challenging. This is our third child so we thought we had things down pretty well, but he didn’t follow the “normal” milestones when it came to eating. Numerous allergies added to our equation.
Jennifer gave me a sense of relief and the confidence to know that my son was going to learn and be able to eat one day. She has so many creative ways to help these little kiddos become interested in food and eventually want to eat. Jennifer is so kind and patient and her compassion is palpable. I’ve seen my son go from barely eating a bite of food to now consuming full meals. And ENJOYING it. Jennifer has become part of our family’s story. We are forever grateful for everything she has taught us these last couple of months and the care she has shown my son and our family. Thank you so much.”

It really transformed our breastfeeding journey
“I highly recommend Jennifer Lewis and Joy & Laughter Developmental Therapy! We took our our 2 month-old daughter to see Jennifer after many weeks of difficulty with breastfeeding and low milk transfer. Jennifer knew right away what to do and gave us exercises to work on. After just a few weeks, our daughter improved so much and it really transformed our breastfeeding journey. We are so grateful to Jennifer and JLD for their support!”

Jennifer Alva-Lewis was instrumental to our sanity and our daughter’s ability to eat!
“Jennifer Alva-Lewis was instrumental to our sanity and our daughter’s ability to eat!
From day one we could never get her latch at the breast and she would start screaming if we even attempted, so we accepted that she preferred to be bottle fed. After a couple of weeks around the 1 month mark it became very evident that she didn’t like the bottle either and she started having some major bottle aversions. Leaving us to spend hours trying to get her to take even an ounce. In doing some of my own research and knowing there is family history of tongue ties we brought this up to our pediatrician but were shrugged off “because she can stick her tongue out” and “I have never seen a tongue release fix anything.”
We had to self advocate and find our own Pediatric Dentist and were on an extremely long waiting list (5 months long) with Stanford to even get evaluated even though we were listed as urgent. Because of the lack of support from our pediatrician it took until she was 3.5 months old before we could be seen by the dentist who immediately determined she did have a posterior tongue tie and performed the release. We told him that we did not have any end in sight with finding an occupational therapist when he recommended us to Jennifer. By that afternoon she was on the phone with me and providing me with helpful tips and solutions to try and help us feed her until we could meet with her in person for an evaluation.
Once we were able to meet with Jennifer we were instantly vindicated that she was indeed struggling to use her tongue in a way that she could be successful with eating or even feel safe to eat. She had a lot of “bottle trauma” that set us on a long path of retraining both us and her how to eat and love the bottle.
With her guidance and exercises we now have a completely different baby. If you did not know the issues she had you would never guess it today. She now knows what she wants, when she wants it, and how to get it. We owe that entirely to Jennifer’s work with us. Our daughter loved her time there in therapy and we as parents were very sad when she told us that we had graduated and wouldn’t need to come in every week anymore. However, this is where I also throw a nod to Jennifer who has continued to provide support when needed even after graduation. She has written a guide for us to send to daycare as well as given us a clear path on the next stage of our food journey with starting solids.
With all of this said we highly recommend Jennifer to anyone and everyone that may be struggling with their little and feeding issues. We loved our time with her and know she will continue to do wonders for all the children she gets to work with.”

I am so grateful and relieved knowing I have such a fantastic resource to reach out to
I saw Jennifer Lewis for infant feeding & occupational therapy, and she was a shining light during a difficult time. I tried everything to figure out why my 2 month old couldn’t eat more than 2-3oz at a time. Walked into Jennifer’s office and she instantly could tell what was going on. She is so knowledgeable and was so sweet with my baby.
After one appointment and doing at home exercises with my daughter (which she loved by the way) there was already improvement. After her second appointment she was pretty much eating normally. I am so grateful to have found Jennifer and have relief knowing I have such a fantastic resource to reach out to should any other issues come up. From the front desk staff, to working with Jennifer and the other friendly staff members there, I can’t recommend this place enough.
