In times we are without little or sometimes no outside activities. With all the chores, the added energy spikes and the frustration of managing too much; parents have definitely more on your hands.

Many of us are out of ideas to plan activities or what to play with their kids. So, we’ve decided to help our parents by offering them simple activities to do with kids at home.

Simple Activities To Do With Kids At Home

Treasure hunt

Kids absolutely love this game. Use recycled paper and write down hints according to the age group of your kids. It helps build their problem solving skills. Hide a little treat or sticker at the end of the game.

Indoor Scavenger Hunt

Or you can do in your backyard. If your kids are still learning to read, you can draw pictures. Give them a big basket to fill in the items while you go about doing your chores. You can turn this into a cleaning activity by listing the items that are messing up your living space.

Blow bubbles

Bubbles are again an all-time favorite for kids of all ages. Pour water in a big tub, add some laundry detergent or shampoo. Mix it well.  Let it settle for a while and get yourself a thin steel wire and make a loop out of it. Make sure the loop is firmly attached and there is no gap. Enjoy the bubbles!

Cook or bake together

This is a really good way to bond with your kids. It also develops your child’s olfactory senses when they are exposed to strong smells. Also cooking is a sensory activity which develops fine motor skills, imagination and creativity. For smaller kids, letting them mix might be enough but for older kids, build their confidence by allowing them to do these activities independently.

Paper planes

Paper planes are also a great way to keep your kids entertained for a longer period of time. Especially if you have two and both are trying theirs to fly the farthest. For older kids, try making planes with different quality paper (tissue, sketch and news papers) to see which one flied the farthest and then made a bar graph of their flights.

Yoga or Gymnastics

There’s so much energy in kids. And all this time at home is making it even more challenging to expend that energy. If you little ones aren’t tired after a full day, let them to practice yoga or some simple stretching moves. You can even play this on the TV and follow along. We personally love Cosmic Yoga for kids.

Podcasts

If you are looking for some screen-free activities for kids, then podcasts might be one try to keeping them entertained. There are many podcasts aimed for young learners such as Storynory, But Why, and Story Time.
